Abstract
The wavelength of Ka-band is very close to the raindrop diameter, so it will cause large attenuation when the Ka-band signal through the rain layer. The rain attenuation will effect the signal transmission. According to method of ITU-R model, this paper estimates the rain attenuation of Ka-band satellite communication in region A, B and C. The result shows the rain attenuation will have great impact on Ka -band satellite communication in these areas and this paper describes the measures to reduce the impact.
