Abstract
Equal participation of women in politics and decision-making is one of the most important issues for the contemporary democracy process. The aim of this article is to reveal the fea‐ tures of women’s political representation in local self-government in the context of neoliberal post-socialist country. The aim was achieved by revealing the situation of women’s political representation in local elections in Lithuania and providing the evidences from interviews with women-mayors (mayoress), what allowed to identify the stimulus, barriers and the main opportunities for women’s political representation in local self-government in Lithuania.
