Abstract
High efficiency electric motor development is in focus of a number of researches nowadays, some concentrate on the application of soft magnetic glassy tapes. Even if amorphous ribbons or even thinner metal strips can possibly give better magnetic performance than crystalline electrical sheets currently used in electric motors, they are considered unsuitable to build the stator of E-motors due to limitations on fabrication technology. However, Fe based amorphous materials are excellent candidates to further improve the efficiency, but in order to use these materials in the stator or rotor of E-motor, additional issues must be addressed. Such issues are for example cutting the amorphous ribbon into the appropriate shape, or avoiding local degradation (like crystallization) of the processed element. In this paper, results of laser cutting experiment of amorphous ribbons are discussed, beside some possible applications of the material.
