Abstract
The underwater wireless sensor network is blooming research in the field of wireless communication. Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) consist of components like sensors and vehicles that are deployed in an acoustic environment. These devices used underwater have various applications, such as the collection of oceanographic data, exploration of minerals and resources, management of natural disasters like tsunamis and earthquakes, etc. Due to the increase in the wide range of applications, underwater devices are gaining importance in the field of research and hence need to develop such reliable devices. But these underwater devices face many issues and research challenges. This paper presents a new analysis by inspecting studies from the past three years on different aspects that support network requirements and applications in the underwater environment. This work was motivated by the requirement for pliable solutions that would satisfy the fast development of the Underwater Sensor Node (UWSN). This paper identified the requirements and applications of low power underwater devices. Finally, discussed the major unresolved challenges and made a suggestion for future research direction.
