Abstract
To address the low efficiency in magnetic coupling resonant wireless energy transfer, utilization of negative magnetic permeability of electromagnetic metamaterials is proposed to increase transmission efficiency and distance. The circuit model of magnetic coupling resonant wireless energy transfer system was first established and theoretical derivations showed that the transmission medium can impact efficiency. The wireless energy transfer system was constructed in practice, and by comparing the received energy at the load with and without electromagnetic metamaterials, it was concluded that the latter enhances wireless energy transfer efficiency. This study advances the pursuit of real wireless energy transfer.
