Abstract
In-situ bioremediation and phytoremediation often offer cost-effective alternatives to conventional remediation techniques. Surface Application and Mobilization of Nutrient Amendments (SAMNA) is an innovative in situ bioremediation technique that can degrade various organic and inorganic contaminants in terrestrial and coastal environments. Phytoremediation is gaining acceptance as an effective remedial alternative, and it can be implemented in freshwater, brackish or saltwater environments. Three case studies are presented where these technologies were used to cleanup perchlorate, hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents.
