It orients to improve the performance of the separately excited motor in addition to regulating its speed through the entire operating range. The Digital Signal Processor (DSP), besides generating the PWM gating pulse for the lone power switch in the AC-DC converter, is programmed to function as a PI/FUZZY controller in the feedback loop. The control strategy is designed to echo an improvement in the input power factor, eliminate the lower order harmonics and there by reduce the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the supply current.
