Abstract
The mesopic photometry system is responsible for visually effective and energy efficient lighting design for various roadway and outdoor lighting applications. In this paper variation of mesopic adaptation luminance and adaptation state of observer are experimentally investigated under different lamp combinations creating surrounding lighting ambience. Mesopic adaptation luminance is estimated in presence of two different surrounding lighting conditions obtained by two types of light sources of different spectral compositions i.e. yellow enriched warm white and blue enriched cool white. Detailed study of experimental results shows that spectral characteristics of surrounding light sources has notable effect on mesopic and adaptation luminance. The blue enriched white LED (WLED) lamp shows most effectual adaptation state of observer in presence of cool white surrounding ambience.
