In this article, an isolated bidirectional dc-dc converter with configurable structure is proposed. This converter can be configured to operate in different operation modes, which effectively extends the voltage gain range. By implementing phase-shift modulation strategy, the control of different operation modes can be uniformly realized. In addition, this converter has simple parameter design, reduces the transformer turns ratio, prevents voltage overshoots caused by leakage inductance, and achieves soft-switching of switches, which is more practical in engineering applications. The converter structure derivation and description, operation principles and parameter design are thoroughly introduced, and the simulation models of boost mode and buck mode are established based on PSIM 9.1.
