Abstract

The main purpose of this work is to use the scale model to study the composite scattering from sea surface and ship target based on the refined facet scattering field model (RFSFM) together with the geometrical optics and physical optics (GO-PO) method. The feasibility and error of freshwater used in the scale model are analyzed by the comparisons of Fresnel reflection coefficient between the freshwater and seawater, as well as the radar cross section (RCS) of sea surface and coupling field, between the prototype composite scene and scale model. The numerical results show that the freshwater used in the scale model to investigate the composite scattering from a ship target on sea surface is feasible when the frequency is larger than 10GHz, which could provide the theoretical basis for the scale model measurement.
