Where Have We Been? … Where Are We Going?

Abstract

Summary This chapter addresses changing trends within the EAP field; and, discusses the prevalence of EAPs internationally. There has been a change in focus from earlier EAPs, which were somewhat sequestered away within the organizational structure; and, with a focus most exclusively on the “troubled employee.” A program model which may be more salient for the diverse employee needs of today would be a strengths-based and solution focused approach and an EAP involved in multiple aspects of an organization's work culture.
