Abstract
This paper presents a new approach towards the Phasor measurement units with less complex design. With the recent development of technology in power systems, PMU's play a key role in Wide Area Measurement System (WAMS) and it also provides a new dimension for the power system monitoring. Non-recursive DFT algorithm is used for the phasor estimation since it is more stable. PMU is implemented and simulated in both software and hardware. It is designed with the help of NI LabVIEW Professional development system. The simulated results are verified with the experimental results and it is validated to be the cost effective compared to the conventional system.
