Abstract
This study presents a brief bibliometric
overview of large scientific literature data related to
issues of energy systems research from 1970 to 2020 in
the Scopus database. The six periods depending on
different publication activity rates were analyzed to
observe the evolution of research topics of energy
systems. VOSviewer software was used to construct
scientific knowledge maps and to discover valuable
main topics for each period. Proposed visualization of
the energy knowledge domain can be considered as a
necessary step for a holistic understanding of complex
development pathways towards the future sustainable
energy systems.
