Should the Consumer Rights Directive apply to digital content?

Abstract

The topic of digital content in relation to the Consumer Rights Directive is highly controversial among stakeholders and intensively discussed in the working group of the Council and the IMCO-Committee of the European Parliament. The European Commission has commissioned two studies expected to be published by mid 2011 to examine the economic and legal impact. The IMCO-Committee is considering amending the Commission’s Proposal in this respect.
