Abstract
Generally manufacturer provides the transfer function of the wind energy conversion system. This paper aims to present a sensorless method to estimate the wind speed and determine the power coefficient of the wind energy conversion system. The method is based only on measurements of the current and voltage at the output of the permanent magnet synchronous generator. A spectrum analysis using the Fast Fourier Transform is used to estimate the angular speed. A power balance is used to estimate the mechanical power sensed by the turbine's blade.
