Abstract
Now-a-days, recent advancement in energy efficiency forces to develop modifications in power electronic systems, where switching frequency as well as different passive components are involved in such a way that lesser switching frequency may increase the size of the passive components as well as the overall system and vice-versa, but increase in switching losses, decrease the efficiency of the whole system. An optimum design has to be chosen to develop a power electronic converter with increased efficiency. Thereby, reducing the size of the passive components as well as low switching losses may lead the converter to energy efficient. This proposed work investigates a Series Load Resonant (SLR) converter containing a tank circuit with soft switching topology that is used for DC-DC conversion. The sinusoidal current wave shape through inductor and voltage wave shape across capacitor for the possible continuous/discontinuous modes of operation will be explored based on the ratio between switching frequency and resonating frequency.
