Abstract
In digital mobile radio communications, the demands on high-speed and high-quality digital transmission are increased. A major disadvantage of multi-carrier transmission (MCT) is increase of peak power. In this paper, we propose a peak power suppression scheme for a MCT system based on generating peak power suppressing signals at extra carrier (parity carrier). This scheme has the advantage that it can be applied to any MCT system and the suppressing signal can be easily spilt at the demodulator. In the case of 8 subcarriers, peak power can be reduced by about 5 dB by the proposed scheme. When nonlinearity of the power amplifier is small, out-of-band radiation is decreased to -50 dB below the in-band spectrum with this scheme.
