Abstract
In this paper Induction Motor and its Application with Sensorless Control in Auto Levelling of Heavy Load Articulation Platform is presented. In many strategic applications the platform used for articulation of articles is to be levelled accurately with respect to ground. For this purpose four outriggers are used to position the four corners of the rigid platform at the same level in specified time with defined accuracy. Outriggers use servo drives consisting of Electric Motor, gears and feedback systems. Induction motors are used in outriggers if low cost is a primary concern and low speed motor is not a requirement. Also the motor load is not expected to change rapidly. To meet these requirements, it is preferred to use Induction motor with a sensorless control. In this paper, Induction Motor operating principle, modelling, characteristics and its application in Outriggers used for auto levelling of heavy load articulation platform is discussed.
