Abstract

The article presents tests related to mechanisms accompanying the formation of friction welds made using variously shaped probes for aluminium sheets. In addition, the article discusses the effect of applied FSW technology parameters on the quality, form and repeatability joints. The tests included the microscopic analysis of structures formed when making aluminium joints using a rotating probe.
