THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE U.S. MISSILE DEFENSE SYSTEM IN POLAND (2001-2008): NEGOTIATION STAGE

Abstract

Poland has traditionally been considered one of the European states most supportive of U.S. foreign policy, including the security policy. Therefore, it seemed natural to establish a long-term partnership with the United States in the development of missile defense capabilities on the continent. This article examines U.S.-Polish relations in the politico-military sphere, specifically the problem of the deployment of the U.S. missile defense system on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
