Pituitary Macroadenoma: A Case Report

Abstract

Pituitary carcinoma is a rare form of malignancy that may be very difficult to diagnose and treat. Many cases were diagnosed by way of the autopsy. Delays in diagnosis often adversely impact patients' consequences. This case report emphasizes the need for timely identification and careful management of pituitary carcinoma. We report a medical staff nurse aged 29 years female presented with complaints of sudden severe headaches and was admitted to a local hospital. She was given symptomatic treatment. All blood investigations were normal. MRI with contrast revealed an isointense to a hypointense lesion in the pituitary fossa with an irregular central mass of necrosis. She was treated with surgery and radiation. Pituitary carcinoma is a very rare entity. Any rapidly increasing macroadenoma should be managed by a team including an endocrinologist, neurosurgeon, and oncologist. Keywords: Pituitary Macroadenoma; Diagnosis; Treatment; Pituitary Adenoma
