This paper introduces three tec niques for charac- terizing the high frequency per ormance of quan- tum well infrared photodetect rs, and discusses the physical foundation and U derstanding of the ezperiments. The three tech iques are (1) mi- crowave rectification, (2) infra I ed heterodyne, and (3) heterodyne microwave mixjng.
