Abstract

There are evidences of complete and  partial translations of the Holy Qur’an are found in majority of languages in the world.Most of  the languages in Subcontinent have been privileged with the translations of the Holy Qur’an.In Potohār region,scholars have rendered their services in prose and poetry and they rendered their services  to the word of the God.Rhymed translations of the Holy Qur’an in Potohār are in various forms of poetry like bound verse,blank verse,free verse and ghazal.These rhymed translations are found in Urdu as well as in regional languages. There are two typs of translations found in this region,complete and partial translations.Some of these translations are word to word and some represent Qur’anic teachings.In this article,the attempt is to study the translations of the Holy Qur’an written in Potohār region.The purpose of this study  is to consider the efforts for spread of Qur’anic teachings and their comprehension in Potohār.Moreover,it is to be assessed that who were the personalities who have given services for rhymed translations of the Holy Qur’an in Potohār.Rhymed translations of the Qur’an in Potohār are extinct because of having unavailable and unpublished.Due to these reasons,no researcher have yet conducted introductory and analytiacal study of these translations.The study of rhymed translations of holy Qur’an in the Potohār region is necessary in order to introduce poetic services of the learns persons of Potohār in the field of rhymed translations of the  Holy Qur’an,to gain knowledge about standard and authenticity of these translations?
