Different structures are used for laser-diode to fiber coupling. The main purpose of using these structures is achieving more coupling coefficient for a known laser power output. Fig. 1 shows a typical structure. The coupling structure may include an arbitrary number of lenses which can be off-axis and/ or tilted and can have arbitrary defined surface profiles.
