PRAGMATIC TRIGGERS OF THE UPDATE OF THE COMIC EFFECT IN THE UKRAINIAN JOKE

Abstract

The article deals with the pragmatic devices of the humor generation and interpretationin the Ukrainian anecdotes. The research particularly focuses on the cooperative maxims' violationasthe trigger of unexpectedness and scripts' opposition. The function of conversational implicaturesin decoding of incongruity and inference of the intended additional meaning has been establishedin the cognitive-pragmatic framework.
