Abstract

The article considers surzhiks speech as a means of characterization in Les Podervyanskiy's play «The Tale of the Turnip, or Huli Is Not Clear?». The concept play of surzhik with reliance on the work of modern Ukrainian linguists is characterized and the separationof the concept of idiostyle as a determining principle of analysis of the literary text issubstantiated.
