Abstract
The objective of this paper is to control the frequency of hybrid renewable energy system (HRES) with the help of proportional-integral (PI) controller according to sudden change in wind speed, load demand and solar radiation. A comparison study is presented in this paper between conventional PI controllers and PSO tuned optimal PI controllers. The HRES is combination of multiple generation and storage module. The generation module comprises of wind turbine generator, photovoltaic system, fuel cell (FC) and diesel engine generator. On the other hand energy storage module comprise of battery energy storage system and flywheel energy storage system. Aqua electrolyzer is also included in the studied HRES to provide the hydrogen as a fuel to FC. The power generated by wind turbine generator and photovoltaic system is taken as constant. The simulation response of the HRES is found to be better for PSO optimized controllers as compared to conventional controllers.
