Abstract
A multipath delay model for indoor ultra-wideband (UWB) systems is proposed. The researches are based on a time-domain channel measurement carried out in a laboratory environment. The channel behaviors of two typical scenarios-Line of Sight (LOS) and None Line of Sight (NLOS) are studied. A new shadowing distribution of channel gain is observed in both scenarios, i.e., the amplitude-delay distribution of channel coefficients follows a single-exponential decay law while the first path component is much stronger. A multipath delay model is proposed to describe the decay characteristic of multipath. The proposed channel model has only five parameters, which are easy to be obtained. The simulation results based on the proposed model are compared with the measurement results, and they agree well with each other.
