Abstract
The main aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of improving the voltage level on the power factor at Faroug 110kV substation as one of the substations of Khartoum Ring Network. Static VAR Compensator (SVC) has been used to contribute to the improvement of the decline in voltage level at the substation that result from different operating conditions. According to process that carried out to improve the declined voltage level, the power factor has improved significantly at the Substation. Etap Software has been used as a tool in the analysis to determine the effectiveness of SVC technique in the improvement process. The outcomes of the study were both satisfactory and as expected.
