An innovative algorithm for data differencing

Abstract

We are presenting a novel algorithm to create software updates using Normalized Compression Distance (NCD) where we define the Z compression function as a modified LZ77[1] compression algorithm. Our test results presented are based on three algorithmic strategies and they surpass commercial software available on the market with a factor of almost 2:1.
