Abstract
A saturable absorber mirror (SAM) based on few-layer molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets is experimentally fabricated and used in the passively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser at 1064nm to achieve nanosecond pulse. While absorbed pump power is increased to 1.8W, the minimum pulse duration of 164ns is obtained with maximum average output power of 218.4mW and slope efficiency of 12.6%. The highest single pulse energy and repetition rate of laser are 174.7nJ and 1.25MHz, respectively. Due to better optical performance, it is further deduced that the MoS2 should have a scientific and technological applied potential, especially in optical modulation.
