To increase the competitiveness of cooperatives, the government, academia and society must optimize the role of cooperatives. So that low-income people who find it difficult to find loan assistance to meet their needs are immediately met without complicated requirements. One of the reasons Emok banks mushroomed in the community because they have not community-based cooperatives that were managed by the community themselves. Sukabumi has many cooperatives whose members are based on a particular community organization, so that the community cannot become members because they were not from the community. The purpose of this research to distinguish between cooperatives and Emok banks, so that by knowing the differences, the community understands the importance of cooperatives and avoids Emok. The research method used the causal comparative method that aims to compare the similarities and differences between two or more facts and the nature of the object under research to compare which good or which one should be chosen. The research population was the people of Sukabumi. The sampling technique used is accidental technique, and the sample measurement technique uses an unknown population formula.
