Abstract
Acculturation is a result of contact between two or more cultures. This blend of cultures will produce a new culture without eliminating the original elements of each culture. Cultural acculturation generally occurs between the natives of a place and the immigrants. As with other forms of cultural integration, acculturation does not necessarily occur without the rejection of one party. Both parties must accept the combination and then later produce cultural acculturation. In particular, this study describes a form of acculturation of Islamic and Chinese culture found in the calligraphy ornaments in the Lautze Mosque building in Jakarta. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method, which is a method that is carried out by describing and re-illustrating in writing the results of a field survey regarding the acculturation contained in the ornaments inside the Lautze Mosque building in Jakarta. The research was conducted using field observations and interviews with the leaders of the Lautze Mosque and strengthened by literature studies using the theory of Cultural Acculturation. Based on the results of the study, absorption of the Arabic word "Ar-Rahman" into the Chinese " 拉哈曼 " lāhāmàn in the calligraphy on the walls of the Mihrab; (2) There is a language transfer in calligraphy, namely writing the meaning from Arabic into Mandarin; (3) There are typical Chinese ornaments, such as the use of seal / 印章 yìnzhāng which is not often used in Arabic calligraphy, the layout of calligraphy writing and the selection of typical Chinese colors, namely Red and Green on the calligraphy frame and background.
