Abstract
In this paper, the medium access control (MAC)layer performance of the IEEE 802.15.7 standard is evaluated. The MAC layer is implemented on a visible light communication (VLC)network. The star topology and the line-of-sight (LOS)configuration is chosen for the network. This network is consist of a coordinator and four nodes. We built these devices based on analog components and the microcontroller. The throughput of the network is evaluated by calculating the percentage of successful transmissions. Also, the success percentage of each node in the network is examined to evaluate the fairness in the network. The experimental results show that fairness is not met in the network. Also, by increasing the number of nodes in the network the throughput is decreased.
