Design of ECG Device for Remote Data Collection

Abstract

The proposed article introduces a design of a remote electrocardiogram data collection system that could be deployed on a standard Android-based smartphone. The system consists of a one-lead ECG sensor designed as a USB dongle and a smartphone application devoted to data acquisition management. The main effort is focused on the hardware design and implementation of the ECG sensor component. During the ECG acquisition, the data are stored on the smartphone internal or external storage and transmitted to the remote biobank server for archiving and subsequent processing at predefined intervals.
