Abstract

CASTNET measures particle and gas acidic deposition chemistry. Specifically, CASTNET measures sulfate and nitrate dry deposition and meteorological information at approximately 88 monitoring sites, primarily in the East. Two additional sites are planned as part of a multi-year network refurbishment and modernization project . These sites are scheduled to be in operation by 2007 and will help fill the coverage gap in the middle of country.
