Abstract

This sermon was developed as a part of National Domestic Violence Awareness month, October 2000. It addresses the need for faith communities to move from ancient Israel into a modern era in which society will not tolerate the behavior of the abuser and where victims are heard and empowered. The Tamars of our day must be recognized as our closest neighbors and family members.
