Fault-injection In The Advanced Automation System

Abstract

The Advanced Automation System is a system being developed to replace and advance the Federal Aviation Administration’s existing Air Traffic Control automated systems. The combining of a large complex design (several million lines of code) with a very high availability requirement has led to significant investments in the ways and means for software based fault injection. We propose to share our experience as summarized below.
