Following detoxification, all subjects were exposed to two one-hour orientation sessions (to alcohol as a drug and alcoholism as a disease process). The experimental group received twelve individual sessions (1% hours weekly) specifically focused on their particular sexual dysfunction. The control group received twelve individual sessions (1 % hours weekly) with primary emphasis on their alcohol problems. No specific focus was given to their sexual dysfunction. Obtained differences between groups demonstrated a clear superiority in sexual functioning for the experimental group. Although significant differences were not obtained, the control group had twice the dropout rate of the experimental group.
