Abstract
Political literacy is one of the global literacy that requires understanding of one's ideology. The purpose of this research is to investigate the ideology represented a book chapter by Vltchek entitled "Indonesia: Archipelago of Fear". Drawing on Fariclough’s 3D approach to CDA, this study found that this chapter promotes socialism to achieve equality of rights and freedom of opinion and expression. This is reflected in the way that the authors reject the notion that Indonesia is a democratic and tolerant country, rejects fascism in political value, and criticises Indonesia’s government. These findings have confirmed the popular notion that no text is value-free but is always ideologically loaded. Keywords—critical discourse analysis; political discourse; ideology
