Abstract

The article provides a review of methods for identifying factors affecting the severity of traffic accidents. The statistics of traffic accidents in the average Elabuga town for 2017-2018 were taken as initial information. To distinguish between types of incidents decision trees were used. The analysis showed that various types of accidents lead to consequences of varying severity. The most common types of accidents that can cause people to suffer are hits a pedestrian and a cyclist. To identify the relationship between driving offence and the type of accident, a decision tree was built and some rules were obtained. For example, the number of hits pedestrians can be reduced if drivers comply with the rules for a pedestrian crossing. Thus, in the article traffic regulations which are most often violated are highlighted, and accidents resulting from such violations result in deaths or serious injuries.
