Abstract
The operations in a process plant done according to the time destruction in any supply leads to stoppage in production, system operation and to financial complications. To avoid these types of situations in commercial and industrial sites we are using generators for backup purpose. That generators are provided with manual mechanism of Switching. and usually that procedure will be followed by particular resource. If any power failure is occur in the system then it takes some time to switch on the generator section to continue with the existing system. So for fulfilling this condition Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) control panel is needed for self-shifting of existing supply which is coming from distribution substation to DG set which is used as back up during the disturbances from MSEB. In this paper we are discussing about the Automatic Mains Failure control its operation and performance during various operating situations. The load data for particular plant has to collect and studied. Based on its observation the DG Set was sized accordingly. Various types of relays are connected over there for the protection of different faults like earth fault etc. The position of proposed backup system is also selected in such a way that to obtained its better performance and characteristics during the power off conditions.
