Abstract

One of the topics being taught at the Institute of Automotive Mechatronics (IAMT) of the FEI STU is the issue of electric servo drives with speed control. Within this, students synthesize a speed controller and verify the characteristics of the control loop by simulation. In order to improve the quality of teaching, with the possibility of verifying the required operation of the speed control loop, an experimental workstation with two motors having coupled shafts has been designed and implemented. The workstation allows experiments to be carried out using a user-friendly graphical user interface implemented in Matlab. Students do not have to deal with the configuration and control of the drives using dedicated engineering tools.
