Abstract

The conventional mechanical gearbox in the wind power application has been applied in between the turbine and the generator. However, it has many drawbacks such as fixed gear ratio which may restrict the output power. In order to improve the power quality and system efficiency, the Electromagnetic Gearing System (EMGS), which has a variable gear ratio, is proposed in this paper. The proposed system is modeled, designed and simulated by using Finite Element Modeling (FEM) software. The results validate the optimized system
