Abstract

The paper proposes an optimization approach to determine the most appropriate generation schedule of a thermal power plant. The problem is formulated considering two objectives: Operating cost and NOX emission. The weighting method is used to simulate the trade-off relation between the conflicting objectives in the non-inferior domain. Decision maker uses fuzzy set theory to choose the best alternative among non-inferior solutions. MATLAB platform is used to provide the on-line solution of the problem. The effectiveness of the methodology is demonstrated through an example. The thermal generation schedule obtained is economic and environment friendly.
