Abstract

This study discusses required cognitive skills in 21st century education and potential use of web 2.0 technologies to address the requirements of learning societies in 21st century. Providing a literature review, in the first part, the nature of 21st century learning environment and new cognitive skills to fulfill these requirements are discussed. More over, a review of literature of activities to develop these cognitive skills for 21st century education is provided. In the second part, web 2.0 technologies' potentials to address the development of cognitive skills that are determined are analyzed and illustrated with examples.
