The essence, types, potential, properties of a pedagogical metaphor as an effective means of forming the professional and personal qualities of a future elementary-school teacher, its multifunctionality in the process of professional training are solved. The effectiveness of the method of using a pedagogical metaphor in the form of a piece of art (a philosophical tale, parable, story, poetic work, myth, popular expressions of famous people, maxims, paintings, etc.) is proved. Abstract
