Abstract

In this paper, a rectangular microstrip patch antenna with a rectangular slot defective ground structure (DGS) is designed at an operating frequency of 2.4 GHz and simulated using HFSS software. The effect of defective ground structure on the rectangular microstrip patch antenna is observed by varying the position of the rectangular slot and the performance of the antenna is measured in terms of return loss, bandwidth, VSWR and gain.
