Abstract
Proteomics is a field of science which deals with large scale analysis of proteins. Two dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) is a technique used to study protein expression in this field. In 2DGE process, large number of protein spots are separated on the basis of their molecular weight and isoelectric point. A complete automated system is required for the analysis of 2DGE images. 2DGE images have non-linear background and are noisy. Hence, Image Registration and efficient pre-processing are the major challenges involved in automated analysis of proteins. We have used the Non Sub-sampled Contourlet Transform for denoising of 2DGE images and then registration of 2DGE images is accomplished by Coherent Point Drift (CPD) point-set registration algorithm. It has been shown that NSCT based denoising improves registration and it outperforms some of the existing registration methods.
