Abstract
In this study, the results of experiences of application of Flipped Classroom teaching model in a materials science and engineering course in Brazil are showed. Improving student engagement, performance and learning in the specific disciplines of the engineering course is the main objective of the application of the Flipped Classroom teaching in engineering education. It is expected to enhance student motivation (increased engagement), because flipped learning promotes thinking in and out of the classroom, with students more actively involved in the learning process. Flipped Learning Feedback from students is more frequent, and research shows feedback has the strongest effect size of any instructional practice. Therefore, it was based on the hypothesis that a methodology aimed at a more active participation of the student, as well as the opportunity to deal with problems was able to engender motivation and minimize the number of students failing and evasion. The actionresearch was the methodology used for this study, in which the subjects not only research the themes seeking in science the possible solutions, but also act as key agents. The results indicated an optimistic return on students learning and performance with the use of Flipped Classroom.
